Bird Nest with Eggs

Bird eggs

While I was enjoying our orchard today, I came across this bird nest with eggs.  Does anyone know what kind of bird they belong to?  I'm thinking either northern mockingbird eggs or cardinal eggs.  I'd like to know if anyone knows for sure what they are.

  1. I just found your BLOG and was searching for interesting stuff. I love birds and their eggs, so I did a quick search to find out what kind of bird might have laid them. On this web site there's a picture that shows an egg that looks similar: http://www.sialis.org/nests.htm and it says it's a house sparrow. Maybe? Of course, your may have already figured it out.

  2. Thanks for visiting, Nancy! I did see a mockingbird tending this nest, these eggs are about an inch long. But, I found another nest with very similar colored eggs but much smaller in our cherry tree. I think those might be house sparrows. Pics are coming, stay tuned!
