New Homemade Rejuvenating Facial Scrub!

New Rejuvenating Face Scrub!

I'm calling this formula New Homemade Rejuvenating Facial Scrub for several reasons.  One, I have taken out the Apricot Seed Powder, and replaced it with two types of wonderful salts.  I have incorporated much of the ingredients that I have found to be excellent for rebuilding skin cells, like:

  1. Walnut Oil - which is very high in Vitamin C, is thought to aid in the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines by supplying the skin with nutrients needed for collagen synthesis. It is thought to add moisturizing and anti-inflammatory attributes to formulations, and it is quick drying. This formula also includes
  2. Macadamia Nut Oil - It is moisturizing, toning and soothing for dry skin, young skin, mature skin, oily skin, acne and sunburns. It penetrates into the skin very quickly, sometimes called a "vanishing oil". It contains vitamin E, supporting proper cell function and cell regeneration, helps to heal small wounds, skin irritations, fade scars, stretch marks, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, contributing to anti-aging properties.
  3. Coffee Oil - which is thought to promote moisture retention of the skin; it quickly penetrates the skin, and gives formulations an exceptional natural coffee aroma which is very popular in today’s consumer market.  I've included
  4. Grape Seed Oil - which is thought to preserve the natural moisture in aging skin. It has a reputation for being an oil that easily penetrates the skin, therefore working also as an absorption vehicle for all the ingredients in this formulation.  Then, one of my standby ingredients,
  5. Jojoba Oil- it is said to be the miracle oil for softening the skin, it is used to promote a softer more supple skin, while being non-greasy. Jojoba oil is easily absorbed by the skin and is great to promote silky smooth skin. Jojoba oil will help to nourish the skin and prevent dryness. A fine penetrating odourless oil which has the consistency of a liquid wax.  Jojoba Oil is stable and long lasting. It is a good conditioner for all skin types, especially mature skins.  It is most like the natural oil that our skin produces.  Then, another of my favorites,
  6. Sweet Almond Oil - thought to have excellent penetrating qualities and good spread-ability on the skin, making it ideal as a massage oil or as a carrier oil for cosmetics and treatment products.  And we all know the benefits of
  7. Aloe Vera Oil - contains moisturizing agents which keep the skin healthy and might slow down the aging process.  Aloe Vera Oil  is beneficial for cracked and dry skin; it can be used on the dry skin to make the skin normal and shiny; it acts as a natural barrier and shields your skin from dangerous toxins. Little known facts are the benefits of
  8. Castor Oil - It can cure acne; keep the skin looking smooth, youthful and unlined; it does promote healthier hair, however, it cannot make hair appear on areas where hair does not naturally occur for you, and will not make fine facial fuzz any more prominent; it thickens eyelashes and eyebrows; it will remove moles and warts; removes age spots (liver spots); and breaks up external/internal scar tissue and prevents new scars.  This is what's going to leave an oily feel to your skin after use, leave it on overnight to get maximum benefits to your skin, or remove with your favorite cleanser.  I just dry my face with a dry washcloth, and that removes enough of the product to leave my skin feeling conditioned and soft for the day.  I've also added
  9. Apricot Kernel Oil - is a lightweight oil that is high in Vitamin A, rich in Oleic Acid and Linoleic Acid. It has an excellent texture that is great for all skin types. It exhibits skin softening, moisturizing properties and is therefore recommended for skin that is dry, irritated or has prematurely aged.  Then,
  10. Cinnamon - ah yes, that wonderful aroma that we all associate with home, baked goods, holidays, but why put it into a cosmetic application?  Here's why, cinnamon is thought to have antimicrobial properties that can benefit your skin. If you happen to cut yourself and you don't have any antiseptic around, you can actually use the cinnamon in your cupboard. Simply clean your wound, and then sprinkle a little cinnamon over it. It's known to kill bacteria and help prevent infections (source: Discovery Fit&Health).  Likewise,
  11. Natural Honey - is not only good for the body when consumed, but also very beneficial for the skin.  Benefits of honey have been known since the days of Cleopatra in ancient Egypt when it was used as a facial lotion. Honey is obtained from the flower essence and contains 80 percent sugar, the rest are minerals, like iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and amino acids. Honey also contains Vitamins C, B and water, therefore honey is a humectant, often used as a moisturizer in various types of cosmetics. Honey helps to protect the skin from wrinkles and dryness.  Then we have
  12. Vegetable Glycerin - which is an emollient and moisturizer; glycerin is a natural substance that can help retain moisture and pull oxygen into the skin thus preventing premature aging. The natural properties of glycerin make it an excellent natural cleanser to help get rid of impurities and dirt that usually build up on the outer layer of the skin leading to breakouts and other skin problems. Next, what goes better with coffee than cinnamon and, one of my favorite fragrances?
  13. Vanilla Fragrance Oil - A 2004 study published in "Journal of Applied Microbiology" investigated using vanillin, vanilla essential oil's primary compound, as an antimicrobial agent against foodborne pathogens including E. coli. The research results indicate that vanilla essential oil does exhibit some ability against these infectious agents and may have preservative benefits.  Since it is a powerful antioxidant, vanilla essential oil is used for skin care as well. A few drops of vanilla oil when added to any face pack prevent damage of the skin cells, due to the toxic action of pollutants and toxins.   These last two ingredients have replaced the Apricot Seed Powder in the older version. Some customers thought it to be too abrasive, so here is my answer to that problem.
  14. Himalayan Pink Salt - Himalayan Crystal Salt is mined from areas in the Himalayan Mountains that were once under ancient sea beds, compressed into a crystalline state where all of its original minerals and trace elements are intact. It is made up of some 84 minerals, all of them existing naturally in the human body.  With proper hydration it can help regulate water content throughout the body which in turn positively effects normal body functions like: 1. Help balance blood sugar levels 2. Encourage proper food absorption 3. Proper pH balance in the cells 4. Aid in proper hydration of the eyes 5. Prevent muscle cramping 6. Promote lung and respiratory health 7. Support vascular health.  These same beneficial minerals can also be absorbed directly through the skin.
  15. Europoean Spa Salt - Solar evaporated and harvested from the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Produced using solar evaporation in a region that is free of pollution and has high evaporation rates. Thought to be the purest salts in the world.  All natural.
There you have it, my latest formula for a Homemade Rejuvenating Facial Scrub. It is a lengthy list of well-researched natural products that are working for me. I have had oily skin on my face all my life. A benefit of that is skin that tends to age more slowly, but one of the liabilities of having oily skin is large pores. Since my skin is now, ahem, sixty-plus years old, I have found that exfoliating with wonderfully natural and healthy formulas has helped reduce those large pores considerably.

Exfoliate, treat, moisturize for healthy, glowing skin, no matter your age!

UPDATE!

This formula has been updated.  I added a couple items, and removed one in order to improve the texture to make for easier use and less waste.

Carpe diem! Lil and Bill
