Homemade Citrus Sage Soap!

Homemade Citrus Sage Soap!

This is one of the nicest soaps I've made!  It's very nice to look at, and it also smells wonderful.  This soap is made with Coconut melt and pour soap base.  To that I added lots of oils that are so very moisturizing for your skin, like Grape Seed Oil, Castor Oil, and Evening Primrose Oil. Then I added Sage Powder, Lemongrass, Lemon, and Grapefruit Essential Oils.

The result is a fragrant, pretty, so good for you moisturizing and beneficial soap bar.  This soap will make not only a wonderful body soap, but will be a terrific face cleansing soap as well.  Here are some of the benefits of these ingredients:

  • Sage - Stimulates cell renewal and increases blood circulation thereby helping to eliminate toxins stored by the body; assists in improving acne, athlete's foot and chapped skin; relieves symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.  Sage has been found to be anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory.
  • Grape Seed Oil - is thought to preserve the natural moisture in aging skin. It has a reputation for being an oil that easily penetrates the skin, therefore working also as an absorption vehicle for all the ingredients in this formulation.
  • Castor Oil - It can cure acne; keep the skin looking smooth, youthful and unlined; it does promote healthier hair, however, it cannot make hair appear on areas where hair does not naturally occur for you, and will not make fine facial fuzz any more prominent; it thickens eyelashes and eyebrows; it will remove moles and warts; removes age spots (liver spots); and breaks up external/internal scar tissue and prevents new scars.
  • Evening Primrose Oil - the oil from the seed of the evening primrose plant. Evening primrose oil is used for skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne according to WebMD.  Dr. Oz has stated that Primrose oil is beneficial in treating wrinkles.  In addition, the website, Medicine Plus also states that the oil can help reduce the effects of such skin conditions as eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
  • Lemongrass - the application or ingestion of lemongrass can help alleviate various skin issues, from large pores to fungal infections. According to Livestrong.com, Lemongrass is an anti-microbial and anti-bacterial herb. This means it will help limit bacterial or microbial growth on the skin. It can help ward off skin infections as well as lessen skin issues caused by bacterial infections, such as folliculitis and cellulitis. Lemongrass is also fungicidal, which means it helps cure fungus infections on the skin. The herb also acts as an astringent, which constricts the skin. This helps to minimize pores, limit the secretions of oil and provide a temporary skin-firming treatment.
  • Lemon - contains vitamin C, citric acid, B vitamins, carbohydrates and a small amount of protein. Commonly used around the world as food and medicine, the juice of the lemon may also be applied topically to benefit your skin.  Lemon juice may help in diminishing the appearance of scars and age spots. It also can reduce the appearance of scars left from acne lesions. Melasma, a skin condition that results in the hyperpigmentation of the face during pregnancy, may also benefit from regular applications of lemon juice.  (Source:  Livestrong.com)
  • Grapefruit - According to Pittman & Davis, grapefruit applied directly to your skin can also give you beautiful skin. The anti-oxidants in grapefruit will fight free radicals in the skin that can cause lines, wrinkles, discolorations and other blemishes that can make you look older than you are. Free radicals are elements that float throughout the body and your skin because they aren't attached to anything. They want to be attached to something so they attack healthy cells trying to bind to the cell wall. Anti-oxidants flow through your body and your skin binding to these free radicals, which gives them something to attach to and makes them harmless. Grapefruit juice also has restorative properties that can help tone skin, even out skin color, and safely and gently cleanse skin. People who have oily skin usually find that their problems with oily skin clear up very quickly after they start using a grapefruit cleanser and toner.

Carpe Diem! Lil and Bill
