DIY Antibacterial Facial Cleansing Soap

I've been doing a bit of research whilst looking for a facial cleanser that will have a significant impact on acne.  It seems that charcoal has the ability to draw out impurities and toxins from the skin.  In so doing, it can help to relieve certain forms of skin problems.  Charcoal is a safe, gentle and natural ingredient that you may want to try.  It will not harm your body, some even advocate taking charcoal internally.  I, personally, haven't gone there yet.

Gentle Antibacterial Facial Cleansing Soap

I decided to use a pre-made soap base, or melt and pour (MP) soap, for this project.  I used a combination of Coconut Milk soap, and Aloe Vera and Olive Oil soap. The benefits of coconut for the skin are many.  As discussed in several other product blogs I have written, coconut is a moisturizer, antibiotic, multivitamin, and has anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and an anti-oxidant properties. Coconut Milk provides deep and real moisture. It helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cells on the skin's surface.

We all know the benefits of Aloe Vera for the skin.  Aloe Vera has healing properties and can promote healthier skin. Aloe Vera researchers also report that Aloe Vera can hydrate through three epidermal layers of the skin when used topically. Aloe Vera provides the benefit of driving nutrients into the deeper layers of the skin, which promotes epidermal health. Olive Oil provides Vitamin A and Vitamin E for the skin while it plumps and moisturizes at the same time.

Litsea Cubeba Fruit

The only other additive, Litsea Cubeba, is a great one with very strong antifungal and antibacterial properties.  It has a mild astringent benefit which can be beneficial for oily skin, is also good for fighting eczema or dry itchy skin, can decrease the breakouts from acne, and is also soothing to the skin.  It has a wonderful lemony fragrance, it comes from a small tree native to China and Southeast Asia. It produces white or pale yellow flowers which in turn produce a small green roundish fruit which turns to dark brown when ripe.  The essential oil is harvested from this fruit.  It can also be harvested from the leaves, flowers, and branches of the tree.

  2. This stuff is fantastic. The antibacterial agent in it really balances out my skin, and helps fight acne. Good lather, great fragrance but not overpowering. Good value for price.
