Goat Milk Spa Soap with Charcoal and Rose Kaolin Clay

Here it is, the face soap that will be great for your skin and will complete the facial care system we have happening here on Wit's End Farm Blog.  The basis of all good skincare is clean skin, and I said I was coming up with a good soap that includes Kaolin Clay that will help to draw out the impurities from deep within your skin.  Here it is.  We have been using it here for a while, and all reports are in with a grade of A+.

Goat Milk Spa Soap with Charcoal and Clay

This soap starts out with a basic goat milk soap recipe, then we add in the activated charcoal and the kaolin rose clay.  The fragrances in this soap are just divine.  You can just imagine being transported to the most luxurious spa you've ever experienced, while staying right there in your own home.  And, it's so much less costly!

Let's look at the benefits of the ingredients in this soap:

Goat Milk

Goat Milk:  Goat milk soap is wonderful for people with dry or sensitive skin, or conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also perfect for healthy skin that wants to stay that way. Unprocessed, raw goat milk contains the following benefits:  (1) Goat's milk contains precious skin loving minerals like selenium and  (2) it is loaded with vitamins, particularly vitamin A, the most important vitamin for the skin.  (3) As with other milks, goat's milk contains lactic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid, or AHA.  It is both an anti-aging wonder and a lifesaver for dry and sensitive skin.

Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal:  The Soap Queen says, "There are various types, including activated charcoal, sugar charcoal and Japanese charcoal (aka white charcoal). The different types of charcoal have various origins and production methods. “Regular” charcoal usually comes from wood, coal or peat. This type of charcoal is often used as fuel. Activated charcoal, on the other hand, is most commonly used for medical, beauty or purification processes. To become “activated,” the charcoal goes through a high temperature steam activation process. This process increases its surface area, which increases the charcoal’s ability to absorb and filter. This makes activated charcoal the proper choice for medical and cosmetic use.  Activated charcoal has become a popular ingredient for skin care products in the past few years. But it’s not new – charcoal has been used in the beauty and medical industries for years. Charcoal is known for its ability to absorb and draw out oil from the skin. This makes charcoal a fantastic addition to soaps, scrubs, masks and more."

Rose Kaolin Clay

Rose Kaolin Clay:  Kaolin clay is a fine and light clay that has natural absorbency properties. When applied on skin, mixed with a little warm water, it will soak up excess oils and stale sebum on the skin and within the pores.  Kaolin helps to cleanse and exfoliate debris and skin cells on the surface of the skin. It does this by absorbing excess oil and water into itself.  Rose clay is considered a mild Kaolin Clay that is commonly used to clean and purify the skin. It has mild exfoliating properties and it helps to detoxify the skin by drawing impurities from pores. A light pink color, this clay is also a fantastic all-natural colorant for soap applications.  It has a fine texture like kaolin, and is suitable for dry skin. The clay is a light to medium pink shade, which comes from a naturally occurring iron oxide. There are 16 Iron Oxides in total and they are all compounds of iron and oxygen. When used in cosmetics, Iron Oxides are considered ideal because they are non-toxic, non-bleeding and moisture resistant. This makes them a great additive to cosmetic and skincare products.  Rose clay makes a fantastic soap additive for both color and gentle oil absorbing properties.

So there it is, another winner from the Farm!  We'd love for you to give it a try along with our Mint Emulsified Sugar Scrub, our Lavender Clay Face Mask, and our wonderful Revitalizing Night Cream!

Carpe Diem! Lil and Bill
